About Silver Haze

Silver Haze was Sensi Seeds' answer to the Haze problem: how do you make the soaring, psychedelic effects of Haze available in a plant that doesn't take 18 weeks to flower? By crossing Original Haze with Northern Lights and Skunk #1, they created a strain that retained much of the Haze magic — the uplifting, creative, energetic effects — but flowered in 10-12 weeks instead of 16-18. Silver Haze became an instant success and was the precursor to the even more famous Super Silver Haze (which won Cannabis Cups in 1997, 1998, and 1999). Silver Haze has a spicy, citrus, and woody aroma with a distinct 'silver' sheen to the trichomes. It set the template for the 'Haze hybrid' that dominates coffee shops to this day.

History

Silver Haze was developed by Sensi Seeds in the late 1980s and released in 1989. It was an immediate success and became one of the best-selling strains in the Sensi catalog. Its importance in cannabis breeding cannot be overstated: it proved that Haze genetics could be made practical for commercial cultivation. Green House Seeds' Super Silver Haze (a later refinement of the concept) went on to win three consecutive Cannabis Cups. Amnesia Haze (another descendant of the Silver Haze concept) won the High Times Cannabis Cup in 2004 and became the most popular strain in Amsterdam coffee shops for over a decade.
