About This Archive
Preserving the genetic history of cannabis — every modern strain traces back to fewer than 50 pre-1990s genetic lines.
Why This Exists
Every modern cannabis strain — from OG Kush to Zkittlez — traces its lineage back to fewer than 50 pre-1990s genetic lines. These are the landraces and early hybrids that built the modern cannabis genome. After 1990, breeding exploded, creating thousands of polyhybrids that are multiple generations removed from the originals. This archive documents those foundational genetics before the signal gets lost in the noise.
What You'll Find
Each strain profile includes origin, genetics, flowering characteristics, aroma and flavor profiles (with old-school-to-modern translation), THC/CBD ranges, terpene data, historical context, notable breeders, and known offspring — everything you need to understand where a strain came from and what it contributed.
Accuracy & Sources
This archive draws from breeder interviews, seed bank catalogs, High Times archives, and community knowledge passed down through three generations of growers. Where sources conflict, we note the discrepancy. This is a living document — corrections and additions are welcome.
